In Japanese folklore, the Gashadokuro is an enormous skeleton (most citations say around 15 feet in height) made from the amalgamated bones of people who have starved to death, or from the those left unburied for one reason or another. In either event, it is one of the most visually striking Yokai and, as seen in this illustration, appears to have it in for Kitsune, who is trying to make a silent, if not graceful exit while Ume prepares to engage the skeletal monster head on.
