The Azuki Arai are a mysterious yokai, seldom seen but typically known for counting and rinsing red beans in the shallows along river bends. Though they may speculate or insinuate harm toward humans—usually threatening to eat them—but the Azuki Baba is a much more malevolent strain of Azuki and proportionately more likely to make good on her threats, as seen here in this image of the eponymous yokai, munching down on a human arm as two other passersby stray through the moonlight.
